Today, most Internet users have heard all about the benefits of broadband access such as DSL or Cable Modem connections. But how many Internet users have ever heard about Fixed-Wireless access as an alternative?
Although fixed-wireless access is starting to appear in more locations across the U.S. with great success, it's not getting as much of the media limelight as other broadband services.
Ozark Communications Services can reach users as far away as 5 miles from our many access points in our growing network! Here are the answers to some of the more common questions. If your question isn't covered here, or you just want to call us for more information, please call us at our PH: 417-230-7029.

Do I need a phone line to do uploads like satellite systems?<return>
No. We use bi-directional antennas that can send and receive without any phone lines.
What about security?<return>
Communications between your location and our access point locations are encrypted using DES "Data Encryption Standard" The same security used by federal agencies in their wireless networks. This is not an 802.11 WI-FI network.
Does this use a satellite receiver?<return>
Our service is not to be confused with satellite access, like HughesNet www.hughesnet.com or lumped in with cellular phone services which are slow and require handheld devices. Our Internet access does not suffer from the latency or weather fade that plagues satellite based Internet delivery. Our service is not affected by rain, fog or snow.
Fixed wireless does not require satellite systems, a cable connection, or even local phone service. By eliminating many of the expenses associated with other high-speed services, we are able to pass much of the savings on to our customers to provide an affordable yet high performance service for business and demanding residential users.
We use a small microwave antenna that is attached to a radio at the customer premises. The Customer Premise Equipment CPE) is pointed back to one of our access points. Even during rain or snow, your connection will be strong, reliable, and out of reach of falling limbs, outages, and other effects prone to wired networks.
Why Wireless?<return>
In two words, No Wire! By removing the cabling and connections of a complex phone or cable network, we offer extreme reliability as an end-to-end service without another company in the middle. This results in better performance.
How fast is installation?<return>
Orders are often completed within days, not weeks or months as can happen with other services. With the area's most knowledgeable staff, Ozark Communications Services guarantees 100% customer satisfaction. What is involved in Installation?<return>
A typical installation consists of installing our equipment on the side of your house or building and connecting it to a router that is provided. At that location you plug in your computer(s) to the router. This router acts as a hardware FIREWALL for your location.
Special Installation Circumstances
A typical installation should be completed within 2 hours. Time over 2 hours is billed at $45.00 per hour, when we encounter problems that are not a result of our equipment.
How do I arrange payment?<return>
We require a contract signature and installation fee be paid at the time of installation. The install fee includes the first prorated month of Internet access. Invoices for service are sent on the 20th of each month for the proceeding month's service. We do offer discounts for ACH and Yearly payment plans.
What are my connection requirements?<return>
Our service is delivered to your computer or LAN via Ethernet. Your computer must have an Ethernet port installed. Most computers built in the past two years come with this factory installed. If your computer does not have an Ethernet card they can be purchased for under $20.00 at many locations including Staples, Wal-Mart....We can not install this device in your computer because of liability issues. If you have multiple computers connected in a LAN, our service will be connected to your LAN at your existing network location.
